Extended Timeframe of the Journalist Contest “Change Yourself – Change the World”

On the 30th of July during the press-conference in UNIAN was announced the beginning of the contest for journalists of national mass media in the best highlighting of the issues concerning further development of health care system in Ukraine. The contest was organized with the initiative of the EU Project “Support to Secondary Health Care Reform in Ukraine”, the Ministry of Health and National Medical Award.

On the 28th of October, 2009, the Jury decided to extend the timeframe of the contest: any material published or broadcast at national or regional TV or radio and on the Internet within the time frame from the 1st of January till the 30th of November, 2009, will be regarded as contesting material. Journalistic works must correspond to the listed below topics and, together with the filled out participant’s application, be sent to the address:

The genre of the contesting material is chosen by the participants.


The prize fund of the contest is 70, 000 UAH.

• best TV program/series of reportages
• best radio program/series of reportages 
• best publication/series of published works in printed mass media
• best publication/series of published works in electronic mass media
• best publication/program about the activities of the EU Project “Support to Secondary Health Care Reform in Ukraine” 

Topics:
1. Development trends of health care systems in the European Union countries – challenges and possibilities for Ukraine
2. The role of local authorities in organizing and delivering health care
3. Medical insurance: solidarity, equity and accessibility 
4. The role of hospitals in delivering qualified specialized health care
5. The role and place of family doctor in the system of medical services
6. Health care system development within the existing legal-regulatory framework (regarding the recommendations from the EU Project “Support to Secondary Health Care Reform in Ukraine”)
