The briefing “Health Insurance: Solidarity, Equity and Accessibility”

The Project held a third briefing on healthcare entitled “Insurance medicine: solidarity, equity and accessibility” on 29 September 2009. The briefing was organized in the framework of the journalistic contest for national mass media “Changes in you may change the world”. The contest  aims at better coverage of issues of further healthcare system development in Ukraine. The event was carried out at the blue hall of the House of Scientists at NAS of Ukraine

The briefing covered the following issues:

• Positive incentives for implementing social health insurance and its possible disadvantages
• Will implementation of social health insurance provoke more efficient use of available resources?
• Availability of legal framework and management tools for support to the law on social health insurance
• Healthcare system development within the current legal framework (focused on recommendations of the EU-funded Project “Support to secondary healthcare reform in Ukraine”)
