Project Experts Took Part in the Socio-Political Talk-Show “The Labyrinth”

On June 10th 2008, Project experts Bela Kaunzinger, Volodymyr Rudyj, Serhij Diachenko, and Natalia Louchsheva took part in “The Labyrinth”, a live talk-show of the Kharkiv TRC. “The Labyrinth” talk-show highlights a broad range of social, economic, political, and legal issues which are topical for the Kharkiv region as well as the country in general through involving leading experts, state officials, politicians, deputies, young people and the community. The city’s and region’s population participate due to the program’s live format.

This issue of “The Labyrinth” was devoted to reforming the healthcare system of the Kharkiv region. The urgent issues of the healthcare branch were discussed with guests: Olexandr Viktorovych Halatsan, Head of the Chief Healthcare Department of the Kharkiv regional state administration; Tetiana Petrivna Yefymenko, Deputy Head of the Main Department, Head of its childcare and maternity healthcare organization department; Larysa Vasylivna Polikova, Head of the Blyzniuky CRH; and Olexandr Ivanovych Chernysh, Head of the Krasnokutsk CRH.

Mr Halatsan reported on the current state of the region’s healthcare system and on the progress of the healthcare reform, dwelling on the earlier positive experience of EU Project implementation in the region within the past years: the ‘Health Financing and Management in Ukraine’, and ‘Support to the Development of a System of Medical Standards in Ukraine’ Projects.

Mr Rudiy, National coordinator in healthcare policy and legislation, reported on the objectives of the EU Project ‘Support to the Secondary Healthcare Reform in Ukraine’.
Project international expert Bela Kaunzinger spoke of the German experience in healthcare reforming.

Heads of the Blyzniuky and Krasnokutsk CRHs, which are pilot facilities of the EU Project ‘Support to the Secondary Healthcare Reform in Ukraine’, contributed information on the first achievements in the course of the Project’s implementation.
